We feel quite special about Landtmann, because this was the first traditional Viennese cafe-restaurant we visited in Vienna. Back then in autumn 2013 (while Isidora still lived in Belgrade and Una just moved to Vienna), Landtmann was the place where we took all of our friends for desserts. And there were many friends we met, and as you may assume – LOTS of desserts we had. This is actually the cafe where we tried almost everything they have on offer – Landtmann fine cake, Mozart, Esterhazy, Apple Strudel, Topfenknoedel, Punsch cake, Marzipankartoffel (marzipan “potato”), Landtmannkugel, chocolate mousse cake, chestnut dessert,  Topfenstrudel, and possibly a few more. 🙂

The elegant atmosphere, professional service and of course, delicious cakes is what always makes us come back to Landtmann. The cafe was by the way, opened in 1873 and was frequented by numerous famous people such as Sigmund Freud oder Marlene Dietrich.

At the moment, you can still try some seasonal specialties such as a berry-mousse cone or blueberry-vanilla cake. Both of them are lovely, but if you have to pick one, take the cone. In case you prefer chocolate desserts, try the chocolate mousse cake, which is our absolute favorite! 🙂

And what is your favorite dessert?

Una and Isi

I preferred how the interior looks at the pictures in black and white, than the color version 🙂

Must Visit Traditional Viennese Cafés and Pastry Shops - Vienna Insider

[…] Cafe Landtmann was the first traditional Viennese cafe that we have visited when we moved to Vienna. Even though very centrally located, facing Rathaus und Burgtheater, cafe Landtmann, at least in our mind, is not as crowded by tourists and is one of those places where the locals get together. We tried almost everything from their vitrine, and if you want to find out what we like best, click here. […]
