There is always something going on at Rathausplatz – a few months ago there was a circus, then the Christmas market and now it is the 7000-square meter ice rink Wiener Eistraum. Skating at this ice rink is a pure pleasure, not only for the beautiful surroundings, but also because of its shape – besides circular rinks, there are also narrow paths where you can skate and explore this huge square and have fun with your friends.
To celebrate 20 years of “Eistraum”, as well as the 150 years of the Ringstreet, a new addition to the Rathausplatz was added – the City Skyliner. Take a ride on this 85m tall tower to enjoy a fascinating, 360° view of Vienna. You will be blown away with this perspective of the city and make some breathtaking pictures! We would only recommend you (especially if you are a photo-maniac like us), to wisely choose the time when to take a ride on the skyliner. We went up on a sunny day, around 14h, which was not the best choice, since the sun was directly behind the Rathaus, which is why there were a lot of reflections and we could not take good pictures of everything we saw. A cloudy day would have probably been a better choice or at least later in the afternoon. But nevertheless, we made enough good ones and had to share them on our Vienna Insider blog.
Whoever you are – a local or a tourist, don’t miss taking this amazing ride! It will make you appreciate the beauty of Vienna on much higher level.
